
Montes, Isotopes Powers Past Aviators, 15-7

Albuquerque, NM - The Isotopes plated seven runs in the fifth inning and registered 15 hits en route to a game one victory, 15-7, over the Aviators Tuesday night at Isotopes Park.
In the box, Albuquerque recorded eight extra-base hits while eight of the nine hitters had a hit, including five with multi-hit efforts. Wynton Bernard and Sean Bouchard each had three hits. Coco Montes had six RBI and a grand slam. Carlos Pérez had two RBI and a solo shot.
The Aviators took off for a 1-0 lead in the first after Cal Stevenson singled, stole two bases and came around to score on an RBI groundout.
In the bottom of the second, the Isotopes took a 2-1 advantage on a Montes RBI single and a base-loaded double play.
Two frames later, Las Vegas retook the lead, 3-2, on a Shea Langeliers two-run blast. In the home half, however, Albuquerque knotted the game at 3-3 on a Bernard RBI single.
The Isotopes broke the game open in the fifth by sending 11 men to the plate and scoring seven runs, taking a 10-3 advantage. The inning was highlighted by Montes' grand slam. An inning later, Bouchard swatted a solo homer to center field.
Las Vegas scored single runs in both the seventh and eighth and two in the ninth but didn't have enough for the comeback. Albuquerque had another offensive explosion in the eighth, scoring four runs.
Karl Kauffmann made his Isotopes Park debut and earned the win after tossing 5.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits, five walks and one homer with one strikeout.
Topes Scope: - In the fifth inning, Montes hit the 9th grand slam of the year-tying the franchise record set in 2004 and 2019. -The Isotopes plated seven runs in the fifth inning-tied for the most runs scored in an inning this year (three times).
-Albuquerque scored double-digit runs for the 22nd time this season. They are 19-3 in such contests.
-The Isotopes tallied four errors on the night-tied for the most errors in a game this year (April 13 vs. TAC).
-Albuquerque registered eight extra-base hits on the night, tied for the third-most in a game this year (five times).
-The Isotopes drew 10 walks, the second-most in a game this season (11, April 7 vs. Oklahoma City).
-Albuquerque hitters struck out just three times, tied for the fewest in a contest this season (May 15 vs. Sugar Land).
-The Isotopes tallied 15 runs on the night, the fourth-most runs scored in a game this season.
-Bernard tallied his team-leading 30th multi-hit effort of the year and eighth three-hit game. He also stole his 24th bag of the year (24-for26). Additionally, he drove in three RBI for the sixth time.
-Trejo extended his hit streak to 10 with a single in the fifth inning. During the streak he is hitting .419 (18x43) with five doubles, three homers and nine RBI. It is his second hit streak of 10-plus games this year.
-Bouchard recorded his 15th multi-hit game and fourth three-hit effort (first since June 15 vs. Salt Lake). He also tallied his second homer in three games. Additionally, he scored three runs for the fourth time this year.
-Montero extended his on-base streak to 28 games-tied for the second-longest active streak and tied for the fourth-longest streak in the PCL this year. During the streak he is slashing .360/.433/.605 with six doubles, two triples, six homers, 28 RBI and 13 walks. He also tallied his 20th multi-hit effort this year.
-Montes drove in a career-high six RBI.
-Pérez belted his first homer since July 15 at Sacramento, seven games and 26 at-bats.
-D.J. Peterson came to the plate with the bases loaded three times and walked twice.
-Kauffmann walked five, tying a career high (four times). It is also the fourth time an Isotopes pitcher has walked five in a game. He also completed at least 5.0 innings thirteen times this season.
-PJ Poulin made his Triple-A debut and tossed 1.0 inning and allowed one run, unearned, on one hit and one walk with two punchouts.
-Albuquerque is now 6-11 in opening game of a series and 4-5 at home. They have won of their last five series openers at home after losing its first four.
On Deck: The Isotopes and Aviators will play game two Wednesday at 12:05 pm MT. Riley Smith is set to start for Albuquerque while Zach Logue is expected toe the rubber for Las Vegas.
