Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees rallied from an early four run deficit to beat the Reno Aces 7-4 on Tuesday night. Reno scored four runs in the second inning off of Bees starter Davis Daniel, but five relief pitchers combined to throw seven scoreless innings to shut down the Aces the rest of the game. Oliver Ortega (1-0) struck out three in the seventh to earn the win and Kyle Barraclough kept Reno off of the board in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Jack Mayfield started the comeback with an opposite field three run homer to right field to get the Bees back to within one. Salt Lake tied the game in the seventh, as Jake Gatewood doubled and scored on a single by David Fletcher. They took the lead in the eighth on a triple by David MacKinnon, who scored the go ahead run on a single by Matt Thaiss. Gatewood would give the Bees a little extra cushion in the ninth with his tenth home run of the season. Jose Rojas laid down a bunt single in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
