Offense Silent in Trenton

The SeaWolves could not get the offense going again on Thursday night in Trenton as they were shut out by the Thunder 11-0 at Waterfront Park.

Trenton took the lead in the bottom of the second inning against Erie starter Zack Segovia. Luke Murton and Kevin Mahoney hit back-to-back singles putting runners on the corners. Jose Gil hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Murton for a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Trenton extended its lead. Addison Maruszak led off, singled, and stole second. Abraham Almonte walked putting two on. Corban Joseph hit into a fielder's choice and Almonte was put out at second. David Adams hit into a force out and Maruszak scored making it 2-0 Thunder. Cody Johnson followed with a two-run home run making it 4-0.

In the fourth, Mahoney led off with a double, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch making it 5-0.

Trenton added to the lead again in the fifth. Almonte and Joseph led off with back-to-back singles. Adams hit into a force out putting runners on the corners. A wild pitch scored Joseph to put Trenton up 6-0. Johnson, who reached on a fielder's choice, score on a two-out Jose Gil base hit for a 7-0 Trenton edge.

In the seventh, Trenton added a pair on a Murton two run home run and in the eighth added a pair to take an 11-0 lead.

The SeaWolves had scoring opportunities early in the game but could not cash in on Trenton starter Brett Marshall (6-2) who improved to 3-0 against Erie. Marshall has not allowed a run in four of his last five starts.

Segovia (5-5) took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The SeaWolves have now dropped six straight and eight of their last nine away from Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves continue a six-game road trip on Friday night in Richmond.6:35 First Pitch. Lefty Jared Wesson (4-2, 5.56 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Chris Heston (5-2, 0.70 ERA).
