Offense Goes Quiet in Loss

Wilmington Sharks News Release

Wilmington, N.C. - After the threat of severe weather forced a 40-minute delay at the start of Monday night's contest, the visiting Peninsula Pilots (6-8, 18-23-1) brought the thunder that the Wilmington Sharks (7-4, 22-13) thought they'd missed, taking a 10-0 win back home.

Pilots starting pitcher Chris Rowley deserves just as much credit as the offense for the win, holding the Sharks scoreless through eight innings. He made his way through seven without allowing a hit, and had only faced one batter over the minimum on two walks to that point. Rowley surrendered a pair of base knocks in the eighth before he was relieved by Andrew Montague in the ninth. The starter struck out ten Sharks in the outing.

Things didn't go as smoothly for Sharks hurler Tim Keller, who yielded a run in the first before the visitors dropped five more in the second and added one more against Keller in the third.

Aaron Hoover came out of the bullpen and allowed three more runs in the fourth, which would cap all scoring for the night before he stayed out for two scoreless innings. Justin Livengood finished the game with three strong frames in which he did not allow a run.

Each of the 11 hits by the Pilots, plus both by the Sharks, was a single. Peninsula also drew a total of five walks and took advantage of two defensive errors.

The Sharks continue a four game home stand on Monday night against the Peninsula Pilots. For more on the Sharks, visit wilmingtonsharks.com, add Sharky Sharks on Facebook and follow @ILMSharks on Twitter.
