Burroughs Returns to Lead the Sharks in 2024

WILMINGTON, NC - The Wilmington Sharks are pleased to announce that Russ Burroughs is returning to manage the Sharks in 2024 for this fourth consecutive season leading the fins.
"I'm honored to be back for another year with the Sharks. We had a great season in 2023 and we are looking to build off of that," said Burroughs. "There is something special about summer nights at the Shark Tank. It's truly unlike any other place. I'm excited to see our fan support in 2024 and to keep our home field advantage the best in the league."
Last season under Burroughs direction the Sharks reached the Coastal Plain League playoffs for the first time since 2017 and won the CPL Eastern Division Championship.
He led the Sharks to top six finishes in the 15-team CPL in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Thirteen former Sharks recruited by Burroughs have signed with Major League Baseball organizations to play pro ball.
"Russ has provided the Cape Fear region with exceptional baseball during his tenure leading the Sharks, and we are looking for more of the same in 2024, " said team co- owner Bill Davidson.
Burroughs spends the off-season in Nashville as the Head Baseball Instructor with Nashville Baseball Academy. He graduated from Lipscomb University in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication.
