HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League announced today that Edenton's Wes Meadows was named the Rawlings Hitter of the Week, while Fayetteville's Max McDonald was honored as the Rawlings Pitcher of the Week for week seven of action (July 9-July 15).
Meadows batted .591 for the Steamers on the week. Of his league-best 13 hits, he had four doubles and a home run, while plating four RBIs to go with five runs scored. The junior from Otterbein University was in the top five of six different offensive categories including a slugging percentage of .909 and a league-high .667 on-base percentage.
On the hill, McDonald pitched a gem for the Swampdogs on July 14 while visiting the Wilson Tobs. The 6-0, 185-pound St. Edward's product pitched a complete game shutout, earning a perfect 0.00 ERA and 1-0 record on the week. In nine innings of work, the lefty scattered just five hits while striking out one batter. More impressively, McDonald walked a league-best zero batters while sporting a 0.56 WHIP and opposing batters hit just .156 against him on the night.
