Offense Explodes in Sunset Game Win

The Portland Winterhawks put up their best offensive outcomes of the season, beating the Moose Jaw Warriors 11-2. It was the first time this season the Hawks scored double digit goals in any single game and their nine goal margin of victory was also the largest of the year.

Special teams play was stellar again tonight as Portland started the night a perfect 4-for-4 on the man advantage. In total, at least sixteen skaters recorded a point in the slanted win tonight.

NOTABLES (all stats pending review):

Tonight's 11 goal performance is the first time the Hawks have scored 11 in a game in nearly eight years. On February 18, 2012, Portland beat Seattle 11-2 at the Coliseum.

Reece Newkirk scored a natural hat trick in the first and second periods against his hometown team. It was the first hat trick in his WHL career.

Johnny Ludvig finished with his second four-point night of the season (all assists), giving him 56 points on the year.

Seth Jarvis became the third WHL player to reach 80 points this season, scoring two goals and adding three primary assists. He is now third place in the league in scoring with 81 points.

Tyson Kozak and Jonas Brondberg each had strong three point nights and Mason Mannek cashed in for his first two goal game of the season.

Dante Giannuzzi improved to 6-0-0-0 this year and got an assist.

The Winterhawks went 6-0-0-0 against the East Division this season.
