Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA- Ivan Ochoa's two run home run in the bottom of the ninth led the Fresno Grizzlies past the Las Vegas 51s on Monday afternoon by a score of 5-3. A crowd of 9,136 fans witnessed Ochoa's dramatic walk off home run, his second of the game, as the Grizzlies took three of four games from Las Vegas.
In the third, catcher Justin Knoedler gave the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead after crushing a two-one pitch from starter Hong-Chih Kuo over the left-field wall. Ochoa's first home run of the game, also his first of the season, followed later in the inning to give the home team a 3-0 advantage.
After holding Las Vegas scoreless for three innings, Grizzlies starter Travis Blackley gave up a lead off double and two consecutive singles to allow the 51s' first run of the contest. Later in the inning, Blackley gave up a two-run double to catcher Ken Huckaby that tied the game 3-3. Blackley's outing finished after giving up three earned runs on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Relievers Scott Atchison and Ricardo Rincon combined to pitch three scoreless innings. Rincon, who recently signed as a free agent with the Giants after being released by St. Louis, picked up his first win of the season.
The Grizzlies hit the road tomorrow to begin an eight game road trip that starts in Iowa and ends in Omaha. Fresno will send right hander Brian Bowles (0-1, 3.57 ERA) to face a pitcher to be announced for the Iowa Cubs.
