Modesto Nuts News Release

Modesto, CA. - Brett Kennedy shutdown the Modesto Nuts' bats in the Nuts' 5-0 loss to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night at John Thurman Field.

Kennedy (W, 3-6) worked around a pair of singles in the first inning of his start for the Storm (10-9; 42-47). The Nuts (6-13; 32-57) recorded just two more singles over seven innings against Kennedy who struck out nine without a walk. Collin Ferguson went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

Helmis Rodriguez (L, 6-13; 32-57) was extremely efficient and worked into the ninth for the Nuts. The lefty allowed a leadoff double in the third that scored on Luis Urias' RBI single. Rodriguez did not allow another hit until the ninth. After striking out the first man he saw in the ninth, Rodriguez walked a man and hit a batter before Ricardo Valenzuela knocked him out with a two-run double.

Rodriguez worked 8.1 innings, surrendered five hits and three walks while striking out three and allowing four runs.

After an off day on Tuesday, the Nuts open a three-game set against the Blaze starting at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday night. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:40 p.m. Listen live online.
