JetHawks Use Big Inning to Take Game

July 12, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA- The Lancaster JetHawks scored six runs in the fifth inning on Monday night at San Manuel Stadium to erase a two-run deficit and eventually giving themselves an 8-4 win. The victory gave Lancaster (46-42, 12-7) the series win 3-to-1 while moving them to 11-3 against the 66ers in 2016.

Inland Empire got the first two runs of the contest in the third inning against JetHawks starter Brock Dykxhoorn (6-3) when Ayendy Perez walked with one out. Craig Gentry, on a MLB Rehab Assignment for the Angels, then singled to right and moved second on the unsuccessful attempt at third on Perez. Hutton Moyer then doubled into the right field gap to knock both men in.

Inland Empire (31-58, 8-11) starter Justin Anderson (4-8) rolled through the first four innings but the JetHawks unloaded a heap of trouble in the fifth against the righty from Houston, TX. With one out, five consecutive batters reached on hits to make it 4-2 in favor of Lancaster. The JetHawks were not finished as with two down and a man on Trent Woodward smashed a two-run homer to make it a six-run frame. Anderson's final line was 5.0 IP, 8H, 6ER, 2BB, 4Ks. Lancaster tacked on two more in the sixth on RBI singles from Bobby Boyd, his third hit of the game, and Ramon Laureano who had tripled earlier.

The Sixers got two more in the bottom of the sixth against Dykxhoorn when Moyer struck again. With David Fletcher aboard at first following his single, Moyer drilled an offering out to right for his sixth homer of the year and his third and fourth RBI of the night. That was all the offense Inland Empire would muster as a trio of relievers Gonzalo Sanudo, Kevin Comer and Ryan Deemes held the Sixers down the final 3.1 innings of the contest. Roberto Baldoquin had two hits and a stolen base for the Sixers in the loss.

The Sixers open a series at Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
