Lancaster, CA. - While giving up a season-high in runs scored, the Modesto Nuts pitching staff surrendered five home runs in a 15-8 loss to the Lancaster JetHawks on Sunday afternoon at The Hangar.
Ryan Castellani (L, 1-6) worked just five innings for the Nuts (21-35) while allowing a season-high ten hits leading to a season-high nine runs allowed. Castellani had allowed just one home run in ten starts this season, but allowed three in five innings.
Bobby Boyd led the first inning off with a solo home run. Jason Martin cranked two, two-run homers against Castellani. Ryan struck out three and walked two in the loss.
Bryan Muniz smacked a homer in the seventh for the JetHawks (30-26). Ramon Laureano drove a two-run homer out in the eighth.
Matt Bower (W, 2-1) worked 6.1 innings but allowed seven runs on 12 hits in his start for the JetHawks. Josh Fuentes went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Dom Nunez drove in two and crushed a double. Wes Rogers went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
