
JetHawks Go Deep Five Times in Roasting of Nuts

LANCASTER, Calif. - Jason Martin hit two of the five home runs for the JetHawks, as they cruised to a 15-8 victory over the Modesto Nuts on Sunday afternoon at The Hangar.
Martin increased his team-leading home run total to 10 with a pair of two-run shots. Bryan Muniz, playing on his 23rd birthday, went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two RBI, and three runs scored. Bobby Boyd and Ramon Laureano also went deep for the JetHawks.
Modesto took an early lead with a pair of runs in the opening inning against Lancaster starter Matt Bower. Shane Hoelscher delivered an RBI single and Dom Nunez brought home a run with a ground out.
Boyd led off the bottom of the first for the JetHawks with his fifth home run of the season. Lancaster put up four in the second inning to take the lead for good. Martin hit the first of his two home runs. Garrett Stubbs brought home a pair with a two-run single. Stubbs had three hits and five RBI in the game.
The Nuts crept closer with one in the third and two in the fourth to make it 5-4, but the JetHawks scored four times in the fifth and three in the sixth to break it open.
Bower (2-1) earned the win and became the first JetHawk to record an out in the seventh inning this season. He went 6.1 innings and allowed seven runs on 12 hits. Jacob Dorris tossed the final 2.2 innings to close out the Nuts and struck out six. Ryan Castellani (1-6) took the loss for Modesto. He surrendered 10 hits and nine runs in five innings of work.
The JetHawks (30-26) and Nuts (21-35) continue their four-game series on Monday night at The Hangar. Dean Deetz (3-1) will start for Lancaster against Yency Almonte (4-4). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
