
Nuts Give up Five-Run Lead Before Winning 7-6 in Ten Innings

San Jose, CA - A pair of extra-inning runs helped the Modesto Nuts earn their fourth straight win with a 7-6 defeat of the San Jose Giants on Sunday night at Excite Ballpark.
With the Nuts (47-43) one strike away from a win in the bottom of the ninth, Jimmy Glowenke clubbed a game-tying solo home run off Luis Curvelo (W, 4-1) to send the game into extra innings.
In the top of the tenth inning, the Robert Perez Jr. was hit by Brooks Crawford (L, 4-1) to put two on. After two quick outs were recorded, Colin Davis singled home the go-ahead run. Corey Rosier followed and added another RBI single.
In the bottom of the tenth, Leon Hunter Jr. (S, 1/2) checked in for the Nuts. He allowed an RBI single to score the free runner but he struck out two including Yorlis Rodriguez to end the game and give the Nuts the win.
The offense in extra innings was the first from the Nuts since their five-run fourth inning. Rosier, who had two RBI, got the offense going with a sacrifice fly. Brett Rodriguez added an RBI single. Alberto Rodriguez had the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run double. He then scored on Noelvi Marte's RBI single.
Jimmy Kingsbury started the game for the Nuts and worked a career-high four innings with a career-best six strikeouts.
The Nuts are off on Monday before returning to John Thurman Field for the first of six games against the Stockton Ports. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
