Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA - San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers got a run in their last at-bat to snap an eighth-inning tie, as they snapped Rancho's three-game winning streak with a 5-4 win over the Quakes on Sunday evening at San Manuel Stadium.

Despite the loss, the Quakes take a series-win, getting four of seven over their I-10 rivals.

Carlos Alejo (2-2) couldn't protect the tie game, as he gave up an RBI double to Gustavo Campero, who chased home Jose Guzman to give Inland Empire a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning.

In the ninth, Rancho got a leadoff single from Edwin Mateo and eventually got the match-up they wanted, as Jorbit Vivas came to the plate with they tying run in scoring position. Vivas, who had three hits on Sunday, couldn't muster a fourth though, as he popped up to end it, as Emilker Guzman notched his ninth save in as many tries this year.

Rancho took an early 3-0 lead against Inland starter Adam Seminaris, as Luis Diaz cracked a two-run homer as part of a three-run second inning, his third of the year.

Inland scored the game's next four runs though, getting to Jimmy Lewis and Kyle Hurt, who both struggled with their respective command. D'Shawn Knowles singled home a pair in the fourth, as Inland took the lead at 4-3.

Rancho pushed the tying run across in the top of the seventh, as Mateo slugged a game-tying homer, his third of the year, making it a 4-4 game.

The Quakes (51-38) will enter Tuesday's series against San Jose (55-35) just 3.5 games out of a playoff spot. Tuesday's series-opener will see Rancho go with Kendall Williams (3-3), as he'll be opposed by Preander Berroa (4-4). Game time on Tuesday will be 6:30pm from LoanMart Field.

Tuesday the 17th will be another Temblores Tuesday, as the Quakes will wear Temblores caps and jerseys, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets for game one of the six-game series are available at rcquakes.com.
