Bakersfield, CA. - In the finale of a four-game series, the Modesto Nuts fell a run shy in a 4-3 loss against the Bakersfield Blaze on Sunday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Lefty Tyler Pike (W, 3-5) was good on the mound for the Blaze (45-68; 19-24) working six innings and allowing just two runs with five K's to help the Blaze to their fifth straight win and to match their longest winning streak of the year.
Alex Balog (L, 1-5) was bumped after 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and four runs including a two-run homer to Tyler O'Niell, his league-leading 26th of the year. Balog walked two and struck out four.
Raimel Tapia recorded three hits including a pair of doubles with a RBI. Rosell Herrera cracked his fourth homer of the season.
Emillo Pagan (S, 5/9) worked around a single in the ninth for the Blaze.
