Modesto Nuts News Release
Modesto, CA. - A solo home run sank the Modesto Nuts in an eleven-inning, 3-2 loss against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
In the bottom of the ninth, Wes Rogers sparked a Nuts' (5-11; 31-55) comeback. He started the inning off with a triple against Storm (8-8; 40-46) reliever Colby Blueburg (W, 1-1). Dom Nunez drove in the tying run with a sac fly to send the game to extras.
In his third inning of work, Troy Neiman (L, 2-3) surrendered the go-ahead, game-winning solo home run to Fernando Perez in the top of the eleventh.
Ryan Castellani turned in a terrific start. The Nuts' righty worked eight innings and struck out a career-high eleven. He surrendered just a single unearned run, did not walk a batter and allowed just four hits.
Game two of the four-game series with the Storm continues on Saturday night at John Thurman Field at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m. Listen live online.
