Nowell Leads Wolves over BayHawks in a Thriller

Erie, Pa. - Jaylen Nowell hit the go-ahead layup with 4.3 seconds remaining to give the Iowa Wolves (13-16) a 109-107 victory over the Erie BayHawks (9-18) Thursday evening at Erie Insurance Arena.

Nowell poured in a season-high 32 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. The Minnesota Timberwolves assignment player finished 14-of-20 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the win.

Iowa trailed by as many as eight points in the fourth quarter before completing the comeback in the final seconds of play.

Two-way forward Kelan Martin contributed 17 points in a starting role for Iowa. The Butler product hit 7-of-17 shot attempts on the evening.

As a team the Wolves shot 45.7% (42-of-92) overall and 42.9% (12-of-28) from deep.

Jaylen Johnson came off the bench to score in double digits (11) for the Wolves. The forward also threaded the game-winning assist to Nowell for the team's final basket of the game.

Two-way guard Josh Gray continued his dominating play on the offensive end for Erie, tallying a team-high 31 points on 11-of-25 shooting while adding seven rebounds and a team-high five assists. Kavell Bigby-Williams had a monster game down low for the BayHawks, finishing with 18 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots for the home team.

Iowa gets the week off from play before starting a two-game homestand beginning on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
