Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Rain, Rain Go Away

The IronBirds and Yankees were rained out in yesterday's series finale at Ripken Stadium. The game will not be made up, as Staten Island does not return to Aberdeen again this season. It was the first time that the IronBirds have been rained out this season. Aberdeen concludes their five game road trip (which starts tonight in Brooklyn) in Staten Island with games Monday and Tuesday.

Gausman Returns To Aberdeen

In the IronBirds' last game, Kevin Gausman made a return trip to the Ripken Stadium mound. He pitched two innings, throwing 29 pitches and allowing one unearned run. Gausman was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

New York, New York

The IronBirds make their final trip to New York City over the long, holiday weekend. Aberdeen will be in Brooklyn for three games, starting tonight, and then heads to Staten Island for two. The IronBirds will not see the Yankees again after Tuesday, while the Cyclones come to Ripken Stadium one more time for a quick two game series July 22nd and 23rd.

McNamara Doesn't Get to Play

The entire McNamara Division was rained out last night, as the Cyclones and Renegades were postponed at Dutchess Stadium. All four teams are back in action today. While the IronBirds are taking on the Cyclones, the Renegades will battle the Yankees 13 miles away at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

MCU Park Becoming More Friendly?

The IronBirds all-time record at MCU Park is 22-35, after recording a 3-2 mark in Brooklyn each of the past two seasons. Aberdeen is 0-2 in Brooklyn this season. Prior to the 3-2 marks in 2012 and 2013, Aberdeen was 0-5 in both 2010 and 2011.

On The Mound Tonight...

The IronBirds will send RHP Tanner Chleborad to the mound tonight. Chleborad, a 16th-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, has appeared in one game so far for Aberdeen this season, pitching one scoreless inning against the Hudson Valley Renegades on June 28. He allowed only one hit that inning, his professional debut.
