May 12, 2022 - Northwest League (NWL)
Hillsboro Hops News Release
Hillsboro, OR - For the second time this season, a starter threw six no-hit innings against the Hops. Canadians' pitcher Trent Palmer did that on May 1st and Indians starter Tony Locey did it on Wednesday night at Ron Tonkin Field. In both games, Hillsboro was held to just one hit. The Hops would be shut out for the seventh time this season, in a 10-0 Indians win.
It was all Spokane in this one, as they scored one run in the first and fourth and four runs in the third and sixth.
Spokane leadoff hitter Eddy Diaz scored three runs in the game, with Julio Carreas and Zac Veen each scoring two apiece. Veen, the Rockies No. 1 prospect, also had two hits, a home run and 3 RBI. Carreras added two hits and a home run off Jose Santamaria, who gave up both Spokane home runs. Drew Romo tallied three RBI in the game as well.
Indians starter Tony Locey threw 94 pitches in the game over six innings, walking six, striking out ten and giving up zero hits.
The only hit for Hillsboro was on a double by Tristin English in the seventh against Tanner Propst. Tim Tawa continued to be a bright spot offensively, reaching base three times, on three walks.
Hillsboro (14-14) and Spokane (16-11) will be back in action at Ron Tonkin Field on Thursday. Rich Burk and Matt Richert will have the call, with the pre-game show at 10:50 and first pitch at 11:05 on Rip City Radio 620.
