Eau Claire, Wis. - December 19, 2011 - The Northwoods League today announced the release of the 2012 schedule. The Eau Claire Express will begin their eighth season at Carson Park on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch on that night is scheduled for 6:35 PM, with gates opening at 5:30.

The league again will feature a 70-game regular season schedule that will feature divisional play. Regular season play begins Wednesday, May 30 and concludes on Sunday, August 12. Divisional playoffs begin the following day and run through Wednesday, August 15 and will match each division's first and second half winners in a best-of-three format. Winners of those series will begin play for the Northwoods League Championship on Thursday, August 16. That best-of-three series will conclude on Saturday, August 18. New to the South Division in 2012 are the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks, out of Mequon, Wis. Moving to the North Division are the Waterloo Bucks, replacing the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers.

Monday through Saturday games will begin at 6:35 PM, with a few exceptions. Games on Friday, June 15 and Friday, August 3 will begin at 7:05 PM and will each be followed by a fireworks display. The Wednesday, July 4 game will begin at 6:05 PM to accommodate the City of Eau Claire's fireworks production. The Express play host to a game on Independence Day for the eighth consecutive year, with this year's opponent being the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks. The schedule features five home games on Sunday, with two different start times for the five dates. Games on June 10 and July 22 will begin at 6:05 PM. The remaining three Sunday home games on June 10, June 17 and August 5 will begin at 3:05 PM. Pre-game family activities will be scheduled to begin before these games at 1:00 PM.

Eau Claire will play 18 of its 35 home games in the first half of the season, which wraps up at Carson Park on July 4. The 2012 schedule includes two home stands of four games each, which is the longest stretch of time the Express play at home.

The promotional schedule for 2012 will be released in the coming weeks, with many new events to highlight.
