Bombers Announce 2012 Schedule

The defending Northwoods League Champion Battle Creek Bombers announced their complete 2012 schedule today. The 2012 season will mark the teams 6th season in Battle Creek and 19th season of play for the Northwoods League.

The Home Opener and Championship celebration is slated for Friday June 1st against the newly formed Lakeshore Chinooks out of Mequon, Wisconsin. The Bombers are planning a championship celebration, banner hanging, and other events to recognize the 1st Northwoods League championship in team history. Two days prior, the team kicks off the season on May 30th against the Madison Mallards.

The schedule is highlighted by 21 games on the Bombers most popular nights, Thursday-Sunday nights. All Monday-Saturday games will start at 7:05pm with Sunday games starting at 5:05pm and the only exception being the August 1st 11am Camp day. The team will also host the LaCrosse Loggers on the Fourth of July which will include a Fireworks Extravaganza that night. The Bombers official promotional schedule will be released later in 2012.

For the third consecutive year the Northwoods League will use a 70-game divisional schedule. All teams will play the other seven teams from their division a total of ten times throughout the season.

The regular season begins on Wednesday, May 30th and concludes on Sunday, August 12th. The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Wednesday, July 4th with the second half beginning the following day. The first and second half division winners will meet in a best-of-three Divisional Playoff Series on August 13-15 with the Summer Collegiate World Series slated for August 16-18. The location and date of the 18th Annual Northwoods League All-Star Game is expected to be announced in January.

New to the South Division are the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks, out of Mequon, Wisconsin. The Waterloo Bucks now move to the North Division, replacing the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers.
