Mallards Announce 2012 Northwoods League Schedule

Madison, WI - The Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League have announced its schedule for the 2012 season. For the third consecutive year the Northwoods League will play a 70-game divisional schedule.

The Mallards open their season at home for the first three games on May 30, 31, and June 1 at Warner Park, aka "The Duck Pond." The Mallards play 18 home games in June, 12 in July, and four in August. This summer's Mallards schedule features 20 games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The Mallards will close the season with a two game home stand on Friday, August 10, and Saturday, August 11 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Wednesday, July 4th, with the second half beginning the following day. The first and second half division winners from both the North and South will meet in a best-of-three Divisional Playoff Series on August 13 thru 15. The North and South Division Champions will then meet in a best-of-three series for the Summer Collegiate World Series on August 16 thru 18.

With the addition of the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks to the South Division and the loss of the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers from the North Division, there will be realignment within the divisions. The Waterloo Bucks, the lone Iowa team in the Northwoods League, have joined Ontario's Thunder Bay Border Cats and the six Minnesota franchises in the North Division. In addition to the Mallards, the South Division will feature the Chinooks, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Green Bay Bullfrogs, the LaCrosse Loggers, the Eau Claire Express and the defending Northwoods League Champion Battle Creek Bombers.

Single-game tickets for the Mallards will go on sale April 30th.
