Northwoods League Announces 2018 Postseason All-Star Team

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Northwoods League announced the 2018 Postseason All-Star Team and award winners on Sunday, August 12. Duluth second baseman Augie Isaacson was named the League's Most Valuable Player and Eau Claire's Justin Slaten was named Pitcher of the Year as voted by the League's coaches and members of the media. Donnie Scott from Madison was named the Manager of the Year and Justin Berg from Kenosha won the Coach of the Year Award.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters had two selections to the 2018 Postseason All-Star Team. Trayson Kubo (Stephen F. Austin) and Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) were selected to the Postseason All-Star Team. Both Kubo and Wold were All-Star selections for Wisconsin Rapids this season and were featured in the Major League Dreams Showcase in Madison on August 7.

Trayson Kubo sports a 6-2 record with 1.52 ERA, the best for the Rafters starting rotation in 2018. Kubo has struck out 52 batters in 53 innings with 31 walks and 31 hits allowed. The Waipahu, HI has six games of six strikeouts or more this year and from July 11 to July 27 had a scoreless innings streak of 16.2. The junior from Stephen F. Austin has held opposing hitters to a .169 average.

Jack-Thomas Wold has showcased his power throughout the summer for Wisconsin Rapids. The UNLV freshman has a .273 average, a team-leading 68 hits and 50 RBI. Wold has 24 extra-base hits this season with 16 doubles and eight home runs. The Henderson, NV native really shined with situational hitting for Wisconsin Rapids. Wold sports a .319 average with runners in scoring position this season and a .375 average with the bases loaded.
