Rockford Rivets News Release

Loves Park, Il. - The Rockford Rivets (28-43) lost their final game of the season to Kenosha on Sunday at Rivets Stadium by a score of 8-3.

The Kingfish put up three runs in the first three innings to take an early lead. The Rivets would then put up two runs in the bottom half of the third and an additional run in the fourth to tie the game at three going into the fifth inning.

The Kingfish would then score in the fifth and sixth inning to make the score 6-3 and didn't look back after that.

Kian O'Brien finished the game with one hit and two RBI's for Rockford, and catcher Wyatt Mascarella managed to finish with two hits and a run.

The Rivets failed to make the postseason this summer but Manager Brian Smith said that the talent on this roster doesn't match what the record showed.

"We had a better team than what the results showed and all these guys know it," Smith said. "You can check box scores next spring and see how well these guys will do at their schools. This league allows them to grow, develop and find out what their weaknesses are and work on them. They hustled from day one to the last day and there is nothing more you can ask for."

The Rockford Rivets would like to thank all their fans for their support this season.
