Bullfrogs Fall to Rafters in Season Finale

Green Bay, WI. - The visiting Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (34-37, 19-17) got off to an early 3-0 start in the first inning and never looked back, securing an 8-3 victory over the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (28-44, 16-20) at Joannes Stadium Sunday evening. The Bullfrogs officially conclude the 2018 campaign and played their final game at Joannes.

Wisconsin Rapids posted an early three-spot in the opening frame with a pair of RBI singles from Jack-Thomas Wold and Mitch Mallek, along with a sacrifice fly from Alex-Fedje-Johnson.

The Rafters tacked on another run in the fourth as Mallek scored on a wild pitch, while adding two more runs in the fifth inning on a two-run single from Johnson.

Green Bay got on the board in the sixth inning with three runs of its own to cut the deficit in half at 6-3. The first two runs scored on back-to-back errors, while Alejandro Gonzalez (Freshman, Waldorf Univ.) scored from third base on a catcher throw down to second.

Wisconsin Rapids stretched its lead to 8-3 on a RBI single from Jordan Wiley and Wiley then scoring on an error.

Gonzalez topped the Green Bay offensive charts with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate with two doubles. Blake Nelson (Junior, Michigan) was 1-for-3 with one run scored, while Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) finished 1-for-4.

Rafters starting pitcher Brecken Lewis got the win, finishing the season at 2-3. Bullfrogs starter McKinley Moore (Sophomore, Arkansas-Little Rock) took the loss, falling to 0-4.
