Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers are excited to announce the signing of a running back to the 2025 roster, Marvin Kinsey. (This signing is supported by Nackard Pepsi.)
Kinsey (6'1 - 208 lbs.) enters his first season in the Indoor Football League with the Wranglers. After college, Kinsey received an opportunity to play for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League. Kinsey was sidelined due to an injury and joins the Wranglers for his first opportunity to play professionally since then. Kinsey was a dominant back throughout his collegiate career at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. Kinsey racked up 1,629 rushing yards and 17 scores on the ground. He also added 460 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Kinsey was a featured running back in the Colorado State offense from 2016 to 2019. As a freshman, Kinsey finished as the top-ranked rusher in the conference for rushing yards. Kinsey also ranked seventh among all FBS freshmen in rushing yards. In 2019, Kinsey ran for a single-game career-high 246 yards against Toledo and received a shout out from Reggie Bush for being the top rusher during that week of college football. Kinsey was consistently breaking long runs during his collegiate career. Kinsey had three games in a row where he had a scoring play of 70 yards or longer. Kinsey graduated from Colorado State University in 2020 with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and communications.
Kinsey is originally from Atlanta, Ga., and attended Riverwood International Charter School. He also earned a full-ride scholarship to play at Colorado State. Regarding his inspiration to start playing football, Kinsey said, "I fell in love with the game by watching Reggie Bush, he was my favorite running back and he was the reason that I chose to wear the number five on the field." Kinsey also said, "It was so awesome that he gave me a shoutout for my game against Toledo when I ran for 246." What continues to drive Kinsey to play professionally? Kinsey stated, "I love football, and I want to help give back to the younger kids. I want to help show people who look up to me that there are always ways to reach your goals. If I can do it, I know that you can do it too."
Kinsey is excited to join the Wranglers organization and for the opportunity to play in the IFL. Kinsey said, "I am very grateful to the Wranglers organization and Coach Burley for the opportunity to play. I am looking forward to touching the field again and to building connections with my teammates, and the fans in Northern Arizona." What can Wranglers fans expect from Kinsey as a player? Kinsey said, "The fans should hold their breath when I touch the ball, I can take it to the house at any moment." Kinsey also closed his thoughts by saying, "My focus is to work hard to be a game changer and be electric every time that I touch the ball."
