North Carolina Courage Signs Goalkeeper Sam Leshnak

North Carolina Courage News Release
Cary, NC - The North Carolina Courage have announced today the signing of goalkeeper Sam Leshnak. Leshnak who served as a goalkeeper replacement for the past several weeks, has made two starts and has one clean sheet this season. Per club policy, no further details of the transactions were disclosed.
Leshnak played 90 minutes against the Orlando Pride on June 1, and 90 minutes against the Portland Thorns on June 15. She had three saves between the two games and gave up only one goal.
The University of North Carolina graduate spent her college career playing under head coach Anson Dorrance. She made 54 appearances and had 87 saves during her collegiate career.
With the return of all players from international duty, Shannon Horgan and Peyton Perea have been released as national team replacement players in order to become roster compliant. Both Horgan and Perea will continue to train with the team, as they could fill national team replacement contracts in the future.
Additionally, defenders Julie King and Ally Haran have been waived. King was acquired by the club in the 2018 Boston Breakers dispersal draft, but was unable to join the team during the 2018 season due to an ankle injury. Haran, a Wake Forest University graduate, signed with the team in February after playing one year in Iceland for UMF Selfoss. The club wishes them the best in their future.
The North Carolina Courage travel to Bridgeview, IL, to face the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday, July 21, at 6 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
