Norfolk Tides News Release
Troy Patton turned in another strong outing and Michael Aubrey belted a two-run home run as the Tides topped the Charlotte Knights 4-2 in their home finale Friday night.
Patton, who was celebrating his 25th birthday, improved to 8-11 by allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits in 6.2 innings of work. He issued two walks and struck out six en route to his third straight quality start.
Aubrey gave the Tides an early lead with a two-run shot in the first inning off of Charlotte starter Brandon Hynick (1-4), his third home run in the last two nights. Aubrey now has 16 home runs and 42 RBI in 38 games since July 16.
Jeff Salazar led Norfolk's 11-hit attack with three singles and an RBI, while Paco Figueroa and Michel Hernandez each added two hits apiece.
Dennis Sarfate worked around a walk and a hit in the ninth inning to register his 20th save, tying him with Wes Gardner (1984) and Mike Welch (1997) for fifth on the Tides single season record list.
The win was Norfolk's fourth straight, tying a season-high previously set from August 25-28.
The Tides will head to Durham on Saturday to start a three-game trip with the Bulls, Norfolk's final series of the season. Zach Britton (3-4, 2.98) is slated to take the mound for the Tides against right-hander Ramon Ortiz (2-4, 4.18), with first pitch for 7:05.
