Buffalo Bisons News Release
Sorry chickens....a little weather isn't going to get in the way of the National Buffalo Wing Festival.
The 9th Annual National Buffalo Wing Festival at Coca-Cola Field this weekend WILL GO ON RAIN OR SHINE at Coca-Cola Field. The two-day event will run Saturday, September 4 (12 - 9pm) and Sunday, September 5 (12 - 7pm).
"For almost a decade, the great people of Western New York have embraced this event for not only its fun, but as a significant piece of our region's culture," said Drew Cerza, the "Wing King" and founder of the National Buffalo Wing Festival. "We don't expect the weather to dampen the spirit and excitement Buffalonians have for this great weekend."
Some preparations have been made to ensure the success of this year's event:
-The Bisons announced that they will allow fans into the seating areas of Coca-Cola Field, including underneath the ballpark's upper deck and in the concourse.
-For Saturday only, the entrance (originally set for behind right field) has been moved to the Washington St. Gate for admittance to the ballpark.
Cerza will go over all arrangements during tonight's Media Hospitality Party and Hall of Flame Ceremonies at Pettibones Grille Restaurant (5:00 p.m.).
This isn't the first time inclement weather has tried to halt the National Buffalo Wing Festival. In 2006, Hurricane Ernesto brought severe weather to the area, but over 45,000 fans still took park in the Wing Festival at Coca-Cola Field.
