NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Tides (50-68) rallied for three runs in the bottom of the third and beat the Gwinnett Braves (53-65) by a 4-1 score Wednesday afternoon in the finale of three-game series at Harbor Park.

Gwinnett had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Daniel Castro hit a one-out, solo homer to left off Norfolk starting pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne.

However in the bottom of the third, the Tides would plate three runs and not surrender the lead. With two outs, Christian Walker got Norfolk on the board with an infield RBI single, scoring Ozzie Martinez from third against John Gant, pitching on an MLB rehab assignment for Gwinnett.

Corban Joseph then singled to left, plating Trey Mancini, putting the Tides in front and Walker scored when Audry Perez hit a ball to shortstop that Castro couldn't handle, pushing the advantage to 3-1.

Paul Janish provided the final scoring in the game with an RBI single in the seventh against reliever Stephen Janas.

Gant (L, 3-2) allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over 4.0 innings while walking one and striking out three. Janas yielded just two hits and a run over 3.0 innings of relief while striking out a pair and Shae Simmons allowed a hit and a walk in the eighth for the G-Braves.

Despaigne held Gwinnett to just two hits and a run over 4.0 innings while walking two and striking out one. Andy Oliver (W, 3-1) picked up the win in relief by yielding only one hit and one walk over 2.0 scoreless innings before Oliver Drake (H, 5) and Jason Stoffel (S, 11) closed it out for the Tides over the final 3.0 frames.

Castro's solo homer, his third of the season, was his lone hit of the day as Gwinnett managed only three. Mel Rojas Jr. and Reid Brignac collected the others.

For Norfolk, Joseph was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI while Martinez went 2-for-3 with double and a run.

The G-Braves are off Thursday before returning home to Coolray Field to open a three-game, weekend series against the Louisville Bats Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Chris Ellis (3-4, 6.64) is scheduled to pitch for Gwinnett against righty Rookie Davis (0-0, 20.25) for Louisville. Tony Schiavone will have the broadcast of the game beginning at 6:35 p.m. on 97.7 FM.
