The Fightin Phils (29-24) saw another stellar outing from Aaron Nola (7-3) as he allowed one run in seven innings against the Erie SeaWolves (18-32) in a 4-2 win. Cameron Perkins and KC Serna's home runs added to the victory.
Nola retired the first ten batters he faced through 3 1/3 innings before the Erie SeaWolves recorded their first hit, a single by Conor Harrell with one out in the fourth inning. Cameron Perkins hit his team-leading and career-high seventh home run of the season off SeaWolves starter Josh Turley (4-4) to give the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Erie tied the game at 1-1 off Nola in the bottom of the fifth inning as Harold Castro hit a sacrifice fly. KC Serna hit his first home run of the season, a two-run blast off Turley in the top of the sixth inning to give Reading a 3-1 lead. JP Crawford scored after walking in the previous at-bat.
Crawford added insurance for the Fightin Phils off reliever Confesor Lara in the top of the ninth inning as he hit a RBI single to score Roman Quinn. Erie scored a run off reliever Stephen Shackleford in the bottom of the ninth inning to see the lead cut in half 4-2. Shackleford earned his 11th save.
