Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - For the second year in a row, NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) will play a regular season match in the Philadelphia area. Gotham FC will take on the Orlando Pride at 7 p.m. ET on August 20 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania. Viewers can follow along on Paramount+ (U.S) and Twitch (international).
"We are thrilled to partner with the Philadelphia Union and bring the NWSL to the Philly area again," said Yael Averbuch West, General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations, Gotham FC. "Our club is committed to doing everything possible to grow this league and the success of last year's match highlighted the deep passion for soccer within the Philly community."
Last season, NJ/NY Gotham played a "homecoming" match in honor of Carli Lloyd against the Washington Spirit, which drew more than 10,000 fans to Subaru Park. This time, Gotham FC newcomers and U.S. Women's National Team icons Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris will take on their former club for the final time this season.
"After an exciting match in 2021, we look forward to welcoming back Gotham FC fans to Subaru Park later this summer," said Tim McDermott, Philadelphia Union President. "The Union is committed to the growth of soccer in the Delaware Valley and are proud to provide a stage for these incredible athletes."
Current USWNT stars Kristie Mewis and Margaret "Midge" Purce also will take the field for Gotham FC as they face off against Sydney Leroux and the Orlando Pride in the NWSL's second-ever game in the Philadelphia area.
"It's a unique opportunity to showcase our club and the NWSL's world-class athletes in a new market," said Andrea Pagnanelli, Chief Business Officer, Gotham FC. "We're excited to make new Gotham FC fans and expand our market reach as wide as possible."
Fans can sign up for a pre-sale on Monday, May 2 and tickets will go on-sale Tuesday, May 3. Check www.gothamfc.com/tickets for more information. For those who have already purchased tickets, Gotham FC has issued a "No Ticket Goes Unused" program. The program allows season ticket members to add tickets to a future game at no extra cost. Seating for additional tickets will be based on availability.
