
Four Quakes Academy Players Called to United States U17 National Team

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Four Quakes Academy players have been called to the United States U17 National Team for a training camp and UEFA Development Tournament in Castelo Branco, Portugal from May 1-11. The U.S. will face Italy (May 5), Belgium (May 7) and Portugal (May 10) during the competition.
Defender Oscar Verhoeven, midfielders Cruz Medina and Edwyn Mendoza, and forward Fidel Barajas will represent San Jose while making up one-fifth of the 20-player roster assembled by head coach Gonzalo Segares.
While 15 clubs worldwide are represented, none are more so than San Jose (4). Only Houston Dynamo FC and the LA Galaxy are also contributing multiple players, sending two apiece.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006, are age-eligible for this tournament and the 2022-23 U17 MYNT cycle, which culminates with the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru.
