LANSING, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons (5-7, 43-37) scored five runs on seven hits in the fifth, taking a six-run lead and drowning the Lansing Lugnuts (6-6, 48-34), 9-5, Monday at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Starter Starlyn Suriel (Loss, 5-4) gave up three doubles and four singles in the fifth and surrendered nine runs, five earned.

Meanwhile, Lansing's offense ticked starter Trevor Oaks (Win, 4-5) for nine hits and four runs, courtesy of multi-hit performances by Ryan McBroom and Michael De La Cruz.

Bubby Rossman retired four straight batters in the eighth and ninth and recorded his fourth save.

McBroom laced a pair of doubles and finished 3-for-5 with an RBI. The cleanup hitter is second in the MWL with 26 doubles and leads the league with a .344 average and 53 RBIs.

De La Cruz had a single and an RBI double, extending his hitting streak to a career-best seven games.

The bullpen held for the Lugs, including two hitless innings by Mark Biggs and two scoreless frames by Phil Kish.

The Lugs are home Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. for one more home game before heading to the road July 8-13. Tuesday is a Dollar Deal Day at Cooley Law School Stadium, featuring one-dollar hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches, and fountain drinks. Chase Mallard makes a spot start against Kevin Guzman (4-7, 3.48).
