
Niemi Named to Top Prospect's Game

Saskatoon Blades Finnish import defenseman Jyri Niemi has been named to Team Red of the 2008 Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects game.
Niemi, a 17 year old defenseman from Hameenkyro, Finland, is in his 1st season with the Blades and has appeared in 24 games, recording 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points. His high velocity slap shot has earned him lots of power play time this season and has earned him a spot as one of the Blades top defenseman.
This year's tournament will take place on January 22nd and 23rd in Edmonton, AB at Rexall Place. This year's guest coaches are Grant Fuhr and Glenn Anderson as well as Lanny McDonald and Mike Vernon.
