Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO--Bernadette Ngoyisa has been on the roster for the Chicago Sky since the start of the season, but just met her teammates yesterday for the first time. The 6'4" center from the Democratic Republic of Congo arrived in Chicago this week having recently celebrated capturing the EuroLeague Women's title on Sunday, followed by her wedding.
Ngoyisa played last season with the San Antonio Silver Stars averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. She led the team in field goal percentage hitting 56.8 percent of her shots from the field. She also played for the New York Liberty in 2002, appearing in 7 games.
She has been playing in Europe for several years most recently for the Bourges Baskets. Ngoysia speaks French and travels with a translator.
"Bernadette will provide solid post presence," said Coach Dave Cowens. "That will help our rebounding and our points in the paint. Bernadette also brings tough shot blocking to the game."
The Sky travels to Houston for a Friday game and then returns home to take on Detroit on Sunday at 6pm.
