Detroit Shock recognize it's a kids world

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Shock will host its Second Annual Kids' Day and Job Shadow on Sunday, June 25, 2006. Fifty kids, ages 8-14 will be randomly selected to learn the business of basketball with a behind-the-scenes experience courtesy of the Shock.

Selected kids will job shadow Shock staff and work in various positions around the arena including announcers, arena hosts, court-sweepers, Fan Fotographers, ticket-takers and more. Kids must be available to "punch-in" at 3:00 p.m. and will work through the first half of the game.

Five lucky kids will also be selected to fill the shoes of the Shock Starting Five in a pre-game ceremony. Kids interested in the Starting Five positions must submit a photo along with their applications to one of the addresses below.

All kids interested in participating must submit a job application by email to kidsday@palacenet.com or by mail to Shock Kids' Day, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Four Championship Dr., Auburn Hills, MI 48326. One entry per person please and entries must be postmarked by Friday, June 9, 2006 to be considered. Job applications must include the following:

§ Child's first and last name

§ Age

§ Legal guardian's full name (guardian who will be attending game with child)

§ Legal guardian's

§ Address

§ Day phone number

§ Emergency contact number (for day of event)

§ Email address

Kids will be notified of their job status by June 12, 2006.

As payment for their hard work, participants will receive free parking, a goodie-bag including concessions vouchers and a t-shirt. Family members of participants and those children not selected to participate in the job shadow will also have the opportunity to take advantage of a special discount ticket offer: either a $21 ticket for $10 or $26 ticket for $16.
