Hoffman Honored as PCL Pitcher of the Week
Albuquerque Isotopes pitcher Jeff Hoffman has been named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 24-30, the league office announced today.
Hoffman turned in one of the best outings of his career in his only start of the week on Friday at Las Vegas. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out a season-high eight batters that night and allowed only one hit in seven scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season. The outing was tied for the longest of his career as he yielded three walks and just the one hit. Hoffman ended his night on a strong note, retiring the final 10 batters he faced.
The Latham, NY native is in his fourth professional season and his third in the Rockies organization. Baseball America ranked him as the Rockies second-best prospect entering 2017.
Hoffman is the first Isotopes player to receive a weekly accolade since Stephen Cardullo for the week of August 8-14, 2016 and the first pitcher since Simon Castro for the period of May 4-11, 2015.
