Express OF Jared Hoying Named PCL Player of the Week

Outfielder Becomes First Round Rock Player to Win League Award in 2017

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Pacific Coast League announced Monday afternoon that Round Rock Express OF Jared Hoying has been named the league's Player of the Week for April 24-30. Hoying becomes the first Round Rock player to capture a league award this season.

Hoying matched his career-high with five RBI on Saturday thanks to a 2-5 performance that included a pair of home runs. His three-run blast with two outs in the top of the ninth inning helped the E-Train complete a dramatic 9-7 comeback victory over the Memphis Redbirds.

In total, Hoying hit .391 (9-23) with two doubles, four home runs, eight runs scored and nine RBI during the week of April 24-30. He recorded a hit in five of six games played last week, including four multi-hit performances. His only game without a knock during that span was a rain-shortened, five-inning contest in which he saw just two plate appearances.

On the year, Hoying is hitting .253 (23-91) with five doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 22 RBI. His 24 games played this season mark the most on the team and is tied for the most in the PCL. He also ranks third in the league with seven home runs and fourth with 22 RBI. This marks Hoying's second career Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Award as he previously took home the honors during the week of June 9-16, 2014.

The Express return home on Tuesday, May 2 to open an eight-game homestand. Tuesday's series opener against the Nashville Sounds at Dell Diamond is set for 7:05 p.m.
