New Video Board Added to Wintrust Field Improvements
July 19, 2023 - Frontier League (FL)
Schaumburg Boomers News Release
Schaumburg, IL - With the team on the road following the All-Star break, the Schaumburg Boomers organization added a major facility upgrade to Wintrust Field. On Friday, July 21 the Boomers will reveal a 23' tall by 45' wide videoboard, nearly 2.5 times the size of the previous screen.
"Coming to a Schaumburg Boomers game isn't just about baseball, it's an experience. With the new video board we will be able to enhance the fan experience and bring in elements of the game we couldn't previously." said Michael Larson, Executive Vice President & General Manager of the Schaumburg Boomers.
The video board is the third major improvement funded by the organization over the last two years, following a full playing surface replacement in 2022 and suite level upgrades over 2021 - 2022.
"The Video Board is a central piece to in-game fan entertainment, and we were excited to bring this project to completion during the 2023 season," said Schaumburg Boomers owner, Patrick A. Salvi. "We have a tremendous partnership with Village of the Schaumburg, and we were excited to make this improvement to compliment many of the Village's projects, as enhancing Wintrust Field for our great fans is a top priority."
The Boomers have had substantial attendance increases each season since 2018, and currently are averaging 4,489 fans per game over the first 26 games; leading the Frontier League as they have every year since 2013.
The improvements made by the Boomers organization complement the Village of Schaumburg's capital improvement efforts over the same time frame which have included a new sound system, painting, drink rails, and other facility upgrades.
"The village is pleased to be working in tandem with the Boomers organization to add to the fans' experience when they come to see games at Wintrust Field," said Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly. "The new videoboard, along with other facility improvements, will help create a memorable atmosphere for patrons every time they visit the ballpark."
The Boomers still have 25 home games remaining in the 2023 season and open a six-game homestand July 21 - 27 at Wintrust Field. Tickets and additional information available at boomersbaseball.com.
