New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United dropped their second straight match for the first time in this USL Championship regular season, falling to The Miami FC by a 3-0 final score in front of 11,024 fans at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park on Saturday night. United remain in fourth place in the USL Championship Western Conference following Saturday night's loss.
Kyle Murphy was the stand-out performer on the evening, making his initial impact on the match in first half stoppage time. Murphy pounced on an excellent low cross from Joaquin Rivas and slotted home for a 1-nil lead to take into the locker room.
Shortly after halftime, Miami would double their lead, with Murphy once again tallying for the team in blue. Some nice footwork from Florain Valot turned the defender and left Murphy open along the back post. A low slotted pass left him one-on-one with the keeper, and he fired high over the outstretched hand of Alex Tambakis.
Adding to the frustration in the 79th minute was former United striker Romeo Parkes. A turnover from Kalen Ryden on miscommunication with Tambakis led to Parkes getting free space in front of goal. Parkes converted for the third and final goal of the evening.
United's next match is one week from tonight, on the road against LA Galaxy II.
