Monterey Bay FC News Release

SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. (8-11-2, 26 points) defeated El Paso Locomotive FC (9-10-6, 33 points) 1-0 at Cardinale Stadium on Health and Wellness Night presented by Montage Health. Adrian Rebollar scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to help the Crisp and Kelp secure its third consecutive victory, fifth consecutive shutout, and sixth match unbeaten.

Monterey Bay F.C. got started early in the match with a chance in the 5th minute. Grant Robinson played the give and go with James Murphy, but the looping through ball that saw Robinson in on goal resulted in a shot missed over the top from the left side of the box. In the 10th minute of the match, El Paso Locomotive FC won a foul just outside the center of the box, but the free kick chance was blocked away with the head of Christian Volesky in the center of the Union's wall. In the 38th minute, Monterey Bay F.C. earned a free kick that resulted in a throw-in from the left sideline, but the overhead throw-in by Robinson was cleared away by the Locomotive FC defense. El Paso had a shot in the box deflected by Morey Doner that redirected off the crossbar and out for a corner. The following corner then resulted in a penalty for the Locomotive, but the panenka attempt by Luis Solignac missed over the top-right of the crossbar and sides entered the halftime break scoreless.

Six minutes into the second half, El Paso earned an opportunity inside the box, but a header by Solignac missed to the right of the post. Four minutes later, Locomotive FC found themselves back inside the six-yard box. This time, Solignac's point blank attempt was saved brilliantly by Antony Siaha to keep the visitors off the board. In the 80th minute, Doner lofted a ball toward Kai Greene at the back post, but he could not quite direct the ball on the frame. The Union earned a chance on the counter in the 84th minute, but after shaking several defenders, Rebollar missed to the right of the post. In the 88th minute of the match, following a run deep down the right sideline, Doner whipped the ball dangerously into the six-yard box. The goalkeeper knocked the ball down, but back into play, and Rebollar stepped up to the ball, settled, and fired a right-footed shot across the line and into the back of the net to give the Crisp and Kelp the 1-0 win at home, its third consecutive victory overall.

Man of the Match: Union left back Grant Robinson earned man of the match honors for playing a crucial role in the club's fifth consecutive shutout. Time and time again throughout the match, Robinson thwarted El Paso from getting going on his side of the formation, effectively shutting down the winger and anyone else who entered his area. The Columbia, Maryland native finished the night with an 87.5% pass accuracy on 32 passes, won six of eight duels, and recorded two tackles, two clearances and two interceptions.

Notes:

- James Murphy returned to the starting lineup after serving his one-match red card suspension during last week's match against Loudoun United.

- Missing the match due to injury were Rafi Díaz (shoulder), Chase Boone (calf), Walmer Martínez (hamstring), and Jason Johnson (illness).
