New Jersey Devils Call Up Bergfors and Halischuk

NEWARK, N.J. - The Devils have called up forwards Nicklas Berrgfors and Matt Halischuk from Lowell (AHL) under emergency conditions, it has been announced.

Halischuk, 20, has five goals and three assists, including a four-goal contest, in six games this season with the Devils' AHL affiliate. Taken with the Devils' fourth choice, 117th overall in the 2007 Entry Draft, the Toronto native netted the gold medal-clinching overtime goal for Team Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships.

Bergfors, 21, has two goals and six assists for eight points in six games. He notched AHL career highs across the board in 2005-06 with 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points with Albany. The native of Sodertalje, Sweden, was selected with New Jersey's first choice, 23rd overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft.

Bergfors will wear No. 18, while Halischuk has been assigned No. 10.

Right wing Barry Tallackson has been assigned to Lowell for conditioning. Tallackson underwent successful minor corrective heart surgery on Sept. 26.
