New England Revolution Unveil Boston Tea Party Kit
February 14, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
BOSTON - The New England Revolution today unveiled the new Boston Tea Party kit, inspired by Boston's proud history of positive defiance, which will serve as the team's new primary uniform for the 2024 and 2025 Major League Soccer seasons. Authentic Boston Tea Party jerseys are now available for purchase at the Gillette Stadium Pro Shop and MLSstore.com.
Today, February 14 between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., fans in Boston can purchase the brand-new Tea Party jersey and win additional prizes at three pop-up shop locations around historic Boston as the Revolution take the new shirt on a tour of historic Boston aboard an Old Town Trolley. The Revolution will embark on the trolley tour of the from The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. before scheduled stops at the Old State House (12:00 - 1:30 p.m.) and The Dubliner Irish Pub adjacent to City Hall Plaza (2:00 - 3:30 p.m.).
The Revolution's new Boston Tea Party commemorates the recent 250th anniversary of its namesake event in December 1773 - one of earliest and most epic acts of positive defiance in the country's history. The shirt design is highlighted by red and white vertical waves on the jersey's front, which represent the ripples in the Boston Harbor made by East India Trading Company's tea crates as the American revolutionaries emptied 45 tons of tea into the water. The event proved to be one of the main harbingers of the American Revolution, foreshadowing the ripple effect the Boston Tea Party would have throughout the colonies in sparking the American's victorious fight for independence.
The navy jersey features red shoulders with three white stripes, a throwback to earlier Revolution jerseys, paired with navy shorts and navy socks, featuring red and white striping on top. The jocktag on the bottom-left corner of the jersey features the letter 'R' from the Revolution crest in a font inspired by the East India Trading Company lettering that adorned the tea crates dumped into Boston Harbor in 1773. On the back of the neck, the Heritage Tree icon pays homage to the flag of New England, which is waved proudly by club supporters during home matches. The icon includes the number 96, a subtle nod to the club's inaugural season.
New England will don the Boston Tea Party Kit for the first time today in a preseason friendly against the Philadelphia Union at 1:00 p.m. ET, streaming live on PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
The 2024 MLS Regular Season begins on Wednesday, Feb. 21 when the Revolution visit CA Independiente in Panama for Round One of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup (8:00 p.m. ET - Watch Free on Tubi).
