
Austin FC Signs Defender Brendan Hines-Ike

Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC today announced that the Club signed free agent defender Brendan Hines-Ike to its Major League Soccer (MLS) roster. Hines-Ike joins the Verde & Black on a one-year guaranteed deal through the end of the 2024 season, with an additional option for 2025.
"The opportunity to sign with Austin FC was something I couldn't pass up," said Hines-Ike. "I'm ready to get to work and help the team achieve its goals this season however I can."
Hines-Ike, a 29-year-old center back, is originally from Denver, Colorado. He played three (3) seasons of collegiate soccer with Creighton University, and one (1) for the University of South Florida. Hines-Ike began his professional career in the Swedish Allsvenskan with Örebro SK, where he recorded four (4) goals and three (3) assists in 70 appearances from 2016 to 2018.
He then transferred to KV Kortrijk of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, playing 53 times for Kortrijk between 2018 and 2021. Prior to the start of the 2021 season, Hines-Ike joined D.C. United on loan, and signed permanently with the MLS club on January 4, 2022. He appeared 49 times across all competitions during three (3) years in D.C.
"Brendan brings both experience competing in Europe and knowledge of MLS to our group of center backs," said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell. "He also adds depth and gives us another strong option at the position."
Hines-Ike will occupy Senior and Domestic designations on the Austin FC roster.
