FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (13-5-7; 46 pts. - 2nd in East) defeated the New York Red Bulls (7-11-8; 29 pts. - 12th in East), 1-0, on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium. New England extended its home unbeaten run to 14 games, improving to 10-0-3 this season, led by Giacomo Vrioni's sixth tally and fourth game-winning goal of the season. Earl Edwards Jr., starting in goal for a second straight match, recorded a pair of saves to help earn the team's eighth clean sheet of 2023.

In the team's sixth consecutive home win in league play, New England found the scoresheet at the half-hour mark as Mark-Anthony Kaye sent a through ball up the left flank to a streaking Vrioni, who outran his defender before tucking a left-footed shot inside the far post. The goal was the Albanian's sixth of the MLS season and his team-high ninth tally in all competitions. Vrioni finished with a team-high three shots on target on the night. The assist was Kaye's first as a member of the Revolution in his sixth consecutive start since joining the team.

Midfielders Nacho Gil and Tomás Chancalay earned their first starts of 2023, with the latter making his home debut. Chancalay logged his first MLS minutes last Saturday as a substitute. Defender Omar Gonzalez marked his 250th MLS start with a second consecutive 90-minute outing and a team-high four interceptions. Dave Romney, who continues to play every minute of the 2023 season for the Revolution, controlled the match with a game-high six clearances.

The New England Revolution continue the season Saturday, September 2 with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff against Austin FC (9-12-5, 32 pts. - 10th in West). TEAM NOTES

New England improved to 10-0-3 at home this season, extending its unbeaten run at Gillette Stadium to 14 games (11-0-3) in MLS play dating back to last October.

The Revolution are a perfect 6-0-0 in their last six regular season home games.

This marks the seventh time in club history New England has won double-digit home games (last - 2021). The Revolution are two wins shy of the club record of 12 set in 2016 and 2021.

The Revolution are unbeaten in 18 consecutive matches (16-0-2) when leading at the half dating back to March 2022, including an 8-0-2 mark this season.

New England improves to 11-0-3 when scoring the opening goal this season.

New England has stopped the opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 18 of their 25 games, only St. Louis City (20) and Orlando City (19) have done this more often this season.

New England snapped a four-match winless run against the Red Bulls, improving to 35-31-17 in the all-time regular season series.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Giacomo Vrioni now leads the team with nine goals in all competitions this season. He has scored in three consecutive regular season home games.

Mark-Anthony Kaye recorded his first assist as a member of the Revolution on Vrioni's opener. Kaye finished the night with a team-high 10 recoveries.

Tomás Chancalay made his first start and home debut for the Revolution after seeing his first MLS minutes last Saturday.

Nacho Gil earned his first start of the season, his fifth appearance of the year across all competitions.

Carles Gil had a team-high five chances created and completed five of his six dribbles on the night.

Earl Edwards Jr. logged a second straight start in goal, notching two saves in his second career MLS shutout.

Omar Gonzalez notched his 250th career start in MLS, registering a team-high four interceptions to go along with four clearances.

Dave Romney had a team-high six clearances and won eight of his nine duels, including six aerials.
