York, PA - Jeff Nettles eclipsed 900 career Atlantic League hits but the Somerset Patriots could not complete the sweep as the York Revolution salvaged a game with a 10-4 victory at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Monday night.

Nettles notched four hits and drove in a run, becoming just the second player in league history to notch 900 career hits. Roland Avila currently holds the all-time record with 933 knocks.

The Patriots got a lead in the game right off the blocks, scoring three runs on four hits before an out was recorded by York starter Jesus Sanchez. Fernando Cortez, Nettles, and Josh Pressley all notched RBIs but Sanchez (2-2) was able to settle down after that 34-pitch 1st. The lefty allowed just three more hits the rest of the way, tossing 5.0 frames, fanning four.

Derrick Gordon was given the three-run cushion but labored in his start, needing 46 pitches for the first two frames. The southpaw ran into trouble in the 3rd, giving up a James Shanks RBI before Chris Nowak crushed a three-run homer to put York in front 4-3. Gordon put two men on in the 4thbefore exiting without an out. Gordon (7-3) suffered his second straight loss, going just 3.0 innings, surrendering five runs and issuing a season-high five walks.

York added three runs on Kevin Reese who tossed 3.0 innings of relief and two on Brian McCullough who threw the final 2.0 frames.

Elliott Ayala added three hits, pumping his total up to 959 for his entire career in his 985th career game.

Somerset (7-17, 33-54) picks up just its second road series win of the year and heads back to where they got their first road series victory. The Patriots open up against Lancaster with left-hander Luke Sommer (1-2, 3.47) making his first career professional start against ex-Major Leaguer JD Durbin (6-2, 4.91). Coverage from Clipper Magazine Stadium begins at 7:00 pm on 1450 WCTC-AM and www.wctcam.com.

NOTES: The Patriots are now 12-25 on the road this year...their series win at Lancaster came with three out of five in late June.
