Nets Earn First Win of Regular Season against Skyhawks at Home

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (1-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the College Park Skyhawks (0-1) 111-107 Wednesday evening at Nassau Coliseum.

Long Island forward Craig Randall II had an exceptional game for the Nets, shooting 15-of-26 from the field, 6-of-14 from the 3-point line, while tallying 40 points, four rebounds and six assists in 41 minutes. Guard Josh Gray earned 22 points, two rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes. Additionally, Justin Jackson notched a double-double, recording 15 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes while shooting 7-of-16 from the field.

The Nets got off to a hot start, shooting 15-of-27 from the field in the first 12 minutes of play. College Park worked hard to respond, but Long Island's hot-handed offense was too much. The Nets ended the first quarter up by eight, 34-26. The Skyhawks' defense shined in the second quarter, outrebounding the Nets by double, 20-10. Long Island continued its strong performance into the break, leading by three, 57-54.

The Skyhawks went point-for-point with Long Island in the third quarter until the two teams tied the match 76-76. College Park closed the third quarter leading by six, 85-79. The Nets and the Skyhawks tied the match for a second time in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter, 96-96. Long Island's patient effort paid off as they defeated the College Park Skyhawks by four, 111-107.

College Park center Justin Tillman had a strong game for the Skyhawks, recording 30 points, 15 rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes. Guard Cat Barber shot 3-of-5 from the 3-point line, tallying 17 points, five rebounds and 12 assists in 38 minutes.

The Nets will play their next game at home against the Greensboro Swarm on Friday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. ET, while the Skyhawks will travel to face the Lakeland Magic on Friday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. ET.
