Ness Appointed Captain of Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Oct. 7, 2014)- The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that defenseman Aaron Ness has been named captain for the 2014-15 season. Ness will begin his fifth season with the Sound Tigers this year.

"Obviously the biggest reason I picked Aaron is his approach to the game," Sound Tigers Head Coach Brent Thompson said. "His daily practice habits, his off-ice habits and the way he carries himself on and off the ice show what a great representation of the Islanders organization and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers he is. The biggest thing for him is his work ethic - he comes to work every day and is a true professional."

Ness, the 40th overall pick of the 2008 draft, saw time with the Islanders in both the 2011-12 and 2013-14 seasons. The 24-year-old Roseau, Minn., native has played 206 total games with the Sound Tigers, posting 78 points (15 G, 63 A).

"It's really exciting," Ness said. "You look at all the names before and it's a pretty big honor. I know all the guys here, including myself, are excited to get going and get the season started here."

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers commence their season on Saturday, October 11, when they host the St. John's IceCaps. Tickets are available at the box office, at TicketMaster or by calling 800-745-3000.
