York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution completed their ninth sweep of the season, downing the Bridgeport Bluefish 9-5 in front of 4,217 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Wednesday night in York. The Revs' winning streak reaches five consecutive games and York now stands a club record 16 games over .500. They'll head to Long Island to open a three-game series on Thursday night, before returning home to start a 10-game homestand on Sunday.

Bryant Nelson led the York offense with a three-run homer and four RBI. Jose Herrera also drove in three, finishing the six-game homestand with 11 runs batted in. Scott Grimes and Chris Walker set the table at the top of the order, each scoring three times.

Bridgeport jumped out to a quick three-run lead with Luis Lopez slamming a three-run homer to left-center before an out was recorded in the top of the first. Revs starter Lorenzo Barcelo (2-0) allowed only one further run, however, working five innings for his second win in as many starts.

York got on the board in the bottom of the first on Herrera's sac fly, scoring Grimes who led off with an infield single.

Barcelo worked out of a bases loaded, no-out jam in the second, retiring Andres Perez on a foul pop up and Lopez on a double play to second, keeping York within two.

Nelson's three-run homer to left-center in the bottom of the third gave York its first lead at 4-3. It was his first homerun as a member of the Revs.

Bridgeport tied it for the final time in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Perez, knotting things at 4-4.

The Revs responded with an RBI single to right field from Herrera, going back on top at 5-4.

Eric Eymann lined an RBI double to left in the bottom of the sixth, growing the lead to 6-4.

Perez lifted a sac fly to center in the sixth bringing the Bluefish back within a run at 6-5, but Nelson made a slick play to his left from shortstop on a grounder by Lopez to end the inning with the tying run in scoring position and the Revs pulled away from there.

Vince Harrison drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh on a fielder's choice, while Nelson picked up his fourth RBI with his third hit of the game, a single to right field in the bottom of the seventh. Herrera followed by providing the final run with a groundout to second.

Bridgeport starter Wardell Starling (2-1) suffered the loss, charged with six runs (five earned) in five innings.

Notes: York's previous club record for sweeps in a season was four in 2008. Tonight marked their third sweep in the last four series, their ninth of the season, and their sixth in a series that lasted three games or longer. The winning streak is the Revs' fourth this season of five games or longer. The 58-42 record is three games better than the Revs' previous best record through 100 games (55-45 last season). York only needs six more victories to clinch matching their best regular season record in team history (two games over .500 in 2008). The victory was York's 28th comeback win of the season. The Revs have swept the Bluefish in both meetings at Sovereign Bank Stadium and are now 11-4 against Bridgeport overall for the year, having won 10 of the last 11 meetings. York's Shaun Garceau (4-6, 5.00) faces Long Island's Bob Zimmermann (0-1, 5.70) in the series opener in Central Islip, NY on Thursday evening at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and YorkRevsTV.com beginning at 6:30 with Darrell Henry on the call.
